To be eligible to join our new club - interested youth must be residents of Westmoreland County and between the ages of 5 and 19 as of January 1st. 4-H does not discriminate. 4-H is open to all without regard to ancestry, color, disability, or handicap, national origin, race, religious creed, sex, or sexual orientation.
More about 4-H: The 4-H Youth Development Program, the largest youth serving program in the United States, provides informal educational opportunities to youth in urban, rural, and suburban communities through local clubs, school programs, special interest clubs, and individual membership. The goals of the 4-H Program are to increase knowledge on a variety of project areas while enhancing life-skills such as decision-making, public speaking, and leadership. We try to accomplish these goals through group interactions such as: communicating, working cooperatively, and being responsible. The youth learn by experiential activities - preparing, designing, and evaluating their projects. So far the 4-H Conservation Club has held two meetings and we have 16 kids who plan on joining the club. However, there is always room for more, so if you have an interest in Wildlife Conservation, Water Conservation or Forestry, call Bonnie Belak at 724-327-6885.
At our last meeting, we set our yearly dues at $15. We decided that the club will meet on the second Sunday of every month for project book meetings, and on the fourth Tuesday of every month for business meetings. We also decided that the project book meetings will be held outside.
Our first project book meeting will be held on Sunday, March 11 at 1:30 PM. We will be meeting at PV Park in Murrysville.
At our next business meeting on March 27th, we will be electing club officers.
