If you like Auctions and supporting local organizations - you need to check out the 4-H Benefit Auction on Thursday, August 23rd at 6:00 PM at the Westmoreland County Fair.
Some 4-H Clubs donate hand-made items to the auction - that were made by 4-H members and adult 4-H leaders. Some donations are items purchased by individual 4-H families, either to make into a themed basket or auction off separately. A wide variety of businesses support the 4-H program, by donating various items for the benefit auction.
There are usually gift certificates of all kinds, a wide variety of new merchandise, fresh produce from Schramm Farms and Orchards and baked goods from Grandma's Country Oven Bake Shoppe.
The Alwine Community 4-H Club does a Steelers basket every year. It usually contains a wide variety of Steelers merchandise. This year, one of the items will be a DVD of Ben Roethlisberger with the PovertyNeck Hillbillies (Mr. Right Now - Making the Video).
Several members of the 4-H Conservation Club will be at the benefit auction. They will be helping to set up for the auction and also volunteering as runners (holding up items that are being bid on and delivering them to the winning bidder).
Hope to see you there!
