Murrysville Dek Hockey League
Information and Spring League Sign-Ups and Results
The Murrysville Dek Hockey League enters the 5th week of play at the Murrysville Dek Hockey Center. More than 100 players participate in the Chipmunk Division (Ages 6 and under), Penguin Division (Ages 7-9) and Beaver Division (Ages 10-12) in developmental and competitive Dek Hockey. New Players interested in joining may sign up as limited space is available. Evaluation Clinics are held every Saturday at 11 am. The Murrysville Dek Hockey League will begin it’s Summer Season on Sunday’s ONLY beginning in late April for Chipmunk (6-U), Penguin (7-9), Beaver (10-12) and our NEW Interscholastic Program (13-18) beginning in late April. The Interscholastic Program will kick off with a Tournament on March 30, 31 and April 1st. The Chipmunk, Penguin and Beaver Division will celebrate Murrysville Hockey Weekend on April 14th and 15th with the Spring Playoffs and Championships per the schedule below.

Highlights: Beaver Gold moved closer to nailing down 1st place in the Beaver Division of the Murrysville Dek Hockey League Spring Season with a 2-0 win over Black. Stephen Tierno picked up the shutout and Andrew Ritter and Kelton Black scored for Gold. Corey White and Evan Corna played well in goal for Black.

Highlights: Beaver Blue and Beaver Gray engaged in the wildest and most exciting game at the Dek this spring as Danny Ferriero scored with :01 left on the clock to give Blue a heartstopping 8-7 victory. Gray’s Nicco Cecere scored four times, Nathaniel Finch added a pair and Patrick Liput chipped in a goal. Blue got two goals from Ferriero and a pair from Austin Avampato plus singles from Kyle Novak, Tyler Giles, Josh Lewis and Jamie Mauro, who also picked up six assists in the contest. Max Zahrobsky made some terrific stops on the 3rd period to keep Blue close as they rallied to tie the game late in the period.

Highlights: After a scoreless opening period, Kyle Novak set up Jake Lauer to give Green the lead with 7:44 to go in the 2nd period. Red had a great chance to tie the game as Jamie Mauro was awarded a penalty shot and converted with 8:22 to play in the 3rd period. Nathan Bateman would be the hero as he took a great pass from Nick Bernard and scored the game winner with 6:13 to go as Red held for the win. Green’s Bryce Lauer and Red’s Johnny Aiello both played superb in goal for their teams.

Highlights: Undefeated Penguin Black held a 2-0 lead on Blue on goals by Ryan Collette and Nolen Puhala. Blue rallied to tie the game as Tyler Watson and Ben Henry scored in the 3rd period. Black would get the big goal as A.J. Skweres buried a wrist shot inside the right post to give his team the lead with 2:41 to go. The Blue squad added three more in the closing moments as Juan Soriano, Ryan Collette and Nolen Puhala scored late in the period for a 6-2 win.

Highlights: Penguin Red continued its hot ways with an impressive defensive performance and shutout by Johnny Aiello. Red’s Jamie Mauro scored a pair and Nick Bernard and Nathan Bateman added big goals to give their team the lead 2-0.

Highlights: Penguin Gray has been a pretty low scoring team this season, but also pretty stingy as well, which has helped them to be in the battle for 2nd place in the Penguin Division. Penguin Blue goaltender Tyler Watson did his best to shut down the Gray attack. Gray’s Tyler Giles scored twice including the eventual game winner with 1:21 to go in the 2nd period on a tremendous pass by Tripp Davis. Blue scoring machine Ben Henry scored the only Blue tally and Gray’s Tanner Flock made several key stops in goal.

Highlights: Undefeated Penguin Black raced to a 3-0 lead and 5-1 lead after two periods. Penguin Green rallied in the third period and just fell short as Black held on for a 5-4 victory. Black’s Juan Soriano and Ryan Collette scored twice and Tanner Chappie scored his first goal of the season. The Green offense was led by Jake Lauer with two goals and Justin Lewis and Kyle Novak with one goal each.

Highlights: Chipmunk Blue scored three goals in the first period and three more in the 3rd period for an impressive win. Both teams worked hard and have improved greatly since the start of the season.
