A 5,100 square foot addition to the old Pizza Hut building on Route 22 was approved by Murrysville council yesterday (Wednesday). Councilman Theo van de Venne was absent.

The plan originally was tabled because of concerns about plantings and the structure of the addition. Officials decided to approve the plan after Joel Reiter, the owner of the building, showed up to defend the plans and pledge to put more landscaping around it.

Also from last night...

  • A revised site plan for Rite Aid on Route 22 was approved.
  • An agreement with CGI Communications Inc. to put videos on the municipal Web site was tabled so officials can get more information on the contract.
  • An agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation regarding the Streetscape project was approved 5-1 with councilman Dennis Pavlik opposed.
  • An ordinance for the transfer of Banner Parklet to the Murrysville Economic and Community Development Corp. was approved 4-2 with council members Joan Kearns and Pavlik opposed.
  • A $25,000 contract with Matcon Diamond for the municipality's crack sealing project was approved.
