Sports News: Brian Novotny is new associate AD at Seton Hill U.
Seton Hill University's head men's lacrosse coach Brian Novotny has been named an associate athletic director at the school. He takes over this position in addition to his coaching duties.
Novotny, who is the former coach of the Franklin Regional boys lacrosse team, will begin his fourth season as the Griffins head coach. He led the Griffins to their first ever winning season in school history with a 9-7 record in 2007, including two victories over crosstown rival St. Vincent.
Novotny joined the Seton Hill coaching staff after spending one season as head coach at Mt. Lebanon High School. While at Mt Lebanon, Novotny led the Blue Devils to the league championship in 2003 in addition to the state finals and the Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Association finals.
Novotny played lacrosse at the University of Pittsburgh and holds a degree in secondary education.
Coast to coast
Coast to Coast Baseball will host tryouts and hitting camps in the area on July 31.
The tryout and a three-hour hitting camp will be held at La Roche College, beginning with a tryout at 10 a.m., followed by the camp at 2 p.m. Cost for the tryout is $25, and the hitting camp is $50. Cost for both is $65.

Soccer camp
Penn-Trafford boys soccer coach Derek Cuthbert will host sessions of the annual Simply the Best Soccer Camp this summer.
Camps are for both boys and girls and will be held at the Bushy Run Soccer Complex at a cost of $85. Camps begin at 9 a.m. and run to noon.
A session for youths ages 6 to 8 will run from July 28 to 31.
A session for players ages 9 to 12 will be from held Aug. 4 to 7.
Cuthbert also will hold a camp for players entering grades seven and eight from Aug. 11 to 14.
Assisting Cuthbert in the camp instruction will be former P-T player Andy Loughnane and incoming senior goalkeeper Kevin Marker.
